ICAN
The ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) is holding another biennial conference this April in St. Louis. On the agenda are topics such as caring for a Cesarean scar, legislative advocacy and delivering breech babies, and most exciting is the focus on educating women and health-care professionals about the latest evidence regarding vaginal births after Caesareans {emphasis mine}, said conference director Maureen Hetrick. Here in Lafayette we would like to start an ICAN chapter and do the same: educate. Women need to know that a repeat cesarean isn’t always necessary, and that they have rights to a vaginal birth. And also, we need to get the care providers in our area on board with the fact that a VBAC is safe. Bottom line, people need to get educated.
